The Ireland’s Women’s National Team (WNT) are set for a crucial week as they gear up for the UEFA EURO 2025 Qualifying Play-Offs. With two crucial games ahead against Wales – the first in Cardiff this Friday, November 29th, and the second on home soil at the Aviva Stadium on Tuesday, December 3rd – the team is calling on fans to rally their support not just for the pitch but for a cause that spans the globe.

This Christmas, the Girls in Green are lending their voices to support the GOAL Mile, an Irish tradition that unites communities while making a life-changing impact on vulnerable populations worldwide. In partnership with GOAL Global, the team is urging fans to show up and participate in their local GOAL Mile, a powerful demonstration of resilience, teamwork, and solidarity.

WNT captain Katie McCabe said: “On behalf of the Ireland Women’s National Team, we are happy to support GOAL with their annual GOAL Mile that helps provide much-needed help to people around the world who are affected by life-changing situations.

“As a squad, we want to use our profile in a positive way to help others as much as we can, and the GOAL Mile is an initiative that shows the importance of resilience and teamwork. We hope that you can support this to provide help to those who need it most.”

What is the GOAL Mile?

For decades, the GOAL Mile has been a beloved tradition across Ireland, bringing families and friends together during the festive season. With over 160 locations nationwide, it’s a chance to come together, get active, and make a real difference for those in need.
Funds raised from the GOAL Mile directly support GOAL’s work in over 15 countries, providing life-saving assistance to communities affected by hunger, conflict, and natural disasters.

Commenting on the support of the Women’s National Team, GOAL CEO Siobhan Walsh said, “We are deeply grateful to Ireland’s Women’s National Team for championing the GOAL Mile. Their teamwork and determination on the pitch inspire us all, and their support for this vital cause showcases the true spirit of sport – using unity and resilience to create a better world.

“The funds raised through the GOAL Mile are a lifeline for those facing unimaginable challenges. This is more than a tradition; it’s a way to ensure GOAL can continue delivering life-saving aid where it’s needed most.”
