GOAL has responded to the world’s major humanitarian crises since its founding in 1977, working with vulnerable communities in 14 countries across the globe with a dedicated team of personnel. While GOAL continues to be an agile first-responder to humanitarian crises, it is also committed to working with vulnerable communities to help them survive crises and support them on the road to recovery. GOAL delivers a wide range of humanitarian and development programmes, with a focus on systems, partnerships and building resilience across Africa, Middle East and Latin America.
Role Overview:
We are seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced senior humanitarian professionals who have operated at Country Director level. We are especially keen to hear from those with experience of managing large scale country programmes (with a focus on conflict and crises affected countries).
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the country programme’s business development strategy, proactively identifying and pursuing funding opportunities, cultivating strategic partnerships with donors and stakeholders,
- Design of competitive, high-quality proposals that align with organisational priorities and respond to local context and emerging needs
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to country programs, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and regional priorities.
- Oversee program planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation to achieve high-quality outcomes.
- Foster strong relationships with local stakeholders, including government agencies, donors, partners, and communities.
- Ensure compliance with organisational policies, donor requirements, and local regulations.
- Lead and mentor a diverse team of professionals, promoting a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
- Represent the organisation at national and regional forums, advocating for the needs and rights of the communities we serve.
Qualifications and Experience:
10 years of senior management experience in humanitarian or development programs, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Proven track record of managing large country programs in complex and challenging environments,
Strong understanding of humanitarian principles, standards, and best practices.
Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Exceptional Leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective partnerships.
Fluency in English is required, Fluency in French is distinct advantage.
